About Gary
Gary, also known as Bear, survived some tough odds after being rescued along with 18 other cats from a hazardous situation. She spent years with a dedicated caretaker outside but had to move when threats from the neighborhood became too much. Now, after three years in foster care, Gary’s made big strides—she isn’t into petting or holding yet, but she’ll greet you at the door and quietly keep you company nearby. She does very well with other cats, especially those with calm, easygoing personalities, and she watches more confident kitties to figure out how she should act. Gary would be perfect as a companion for your cat, giving them a friend to bond with while she gets used to her new environment. For playtime, she’s happy to chase a wand toy if her cat friends aren’t too pushy, but otherwise, she keeps things laidback, preferring to nap in a cozy spot or watch birds from a window perch. Gary needs a patient adopter who’s willing to go slow, preferably starting her out in a small, quiet space and spending consistent, relaxed time with her. Older, respectful children might be a fit, but young kids and dogs aren’t a match for her comfort level. She’s spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. If you’re ready to help a shy but promising cat blossom, Gary could be the friend your household needs. Start your journey together! Apply now.
