Zoe
AvailableZoe is a 10-year-old spayed female Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier mix with a beautiful brown coat, currently located in Westbrook, CT. She is up to date on her vaccinations and, with her years, brings plenty of wisdom and loyalty. Zoe does have special needs — she manages anxiety and requires medication — and she is seeking a peaceful home as the only pet. Her maturity is matched by her affection and hope for a loving forever home.
About Zoe
Feeling a little lonely? Zoe has been waiting at the shelter for many months and just wants someone to finally call her own. At 9 years old, Zoe still has the heart of a cheerful 5-year-old—she’s full of life and longing for better days. Her past wasn’t easy: Zoe’s ears were injured when she was young, leaving her with small round scars the staff affectionately call her 'pearl earrings.' She gets excited to see people and sometimes nibbles hands when she meets new friends, but she carries her emotional support ball to help herself stay calm. Zoe came to the shelter after her last family gave her up for a new puppy. She needs an adopter who will commit—she should be the only pet in the house, as other dogs and cats make her anxious and irritable. For someone retired, recently single, or craving quieter days with a steady companion, Zoe would give her whole heart. She offers unwavering loyalty and real companionship, especially to someone who understands her need for medication to manage anxiety. If you aren’t able to adopt, please consider sharing Zoe’s story. She could finally find her person if her story reaches the right home. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!

How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Zoe’s breed mix usually enjoys moderate outdoor time—a fenced yard or regular walks suffice. She mostly values quality time with her person over lots of space.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
While Labrador Retrievers are often great with children, Zoe is looking for a calm home without other pets and would likely do best with adults or older children who respect her space.
