About Salem

Salem was left behind with his sister, and despite his rough start, he’s every bit the classic hound puppy—quick, energetic, and always busy exploring the world with his nose. He’s around 6 to 8 months old, showing all the typical puppy habits: jumping, counter-surfing, and needing a distraction every time something interesting passes by. He’s vocal when unhappy and especially when left alone, which means apartment or condo living probably won’t suit him unless you’re committed to working through his separation anxiety. Training is off to a good start for Salem since he’s both smart and seriously food motivated. He’s just beginning with crate and potty training, eager to learn, and wants to make his person happy. Salem loves every dog he meets—he really needs another playful dog in his future home to help him feel secure. When it comes to cats, he’s not aggressive but sometimes mistakes them for canine playmates. He quickly learns his place after a hiss or swat from a cat. Salem is heartworm negative, neutered, and current on vaccines. Salem is ready to meet his match and keeps his tail wagging for the right home. Click apply to start the adoption process.
