About Ruby

Ruby is a lively herding breed mix searching for a family who understands her boundless energy and sharp mind. Nearly two years old and spayed, Ruby thrives on activity and routines—she wants someone dedicated to exercise, play, and challenge. She gets along with other dogs and holds her own even with rough-and-tumble play, but she’s too excitable and mouthy for households with kids. Ruby knows plenty of obedience, is crate and house trained, has solid off-leash and leash manners when given consistency, and is easily motivated by food and toys. She does well with cats that won't bolt. She’s sweet and cuddly when she’s finally ready to settle and shines in car rides, handling, and even nail trims. Ruby does come with quirks. Her rough style and herding drive mean not every dog will appreciate her enthusiasm. She has persistent PICA, so she needs careful supervision outside—she’ll try to eat just about anything. She struggles to settle, sometimes paces, and she’s working on being calm around new people, especially during car rides. Ruby can be quite mouthy and is prone to grabbing clothing or jumping up when overstimulated. This is a project dog for an active, upbeat home ready to keep her busy with crate routines, yard time, fun jobs, and—ideally—dog sports. In return, she’ll fill your life with laughter and energy. Ruby’s adoption includes free lifetime boarding at Wasatch Canine Camp, group and private training sessions, and socialization classes. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
