Nyx is a German Shepherd Dog in the adult stage of life. She’s a large, spayed female living in Camarillo, CA. Nyx doesn’t have any special medical needs and has spent time with other dogs. She will need a secure home and experienced, patient adopters to help her adjust and thrive.

About Nyx

Nyx arrived at the shelter with her puppies, who all found homes quickly, but she's struggled more with people and everyday life. Early on, Nyx was terrified of human contact and didn’t know how to handle a leash. Over time, she’s learned to walk well on a leash, enjoys gentle chin scratches from people she knows, and can be playful with friendly, calm dogs. Inside, Nyx still has a lot to figure out—she’s learning what a home feels like, and she relies on a quiet environment and patient guidance. She'd do best with someone experienced who can support her slow adjustment, manage her tendency to escape, and introduce her to life at her pace. Nyx has had a tough go after being overwhelmed in playgroup and struggling to rebound from an incident with another dog, which has left her more nervous and reserved. Her recent adult-only foster home reported ongoing fearfulness, accidents in the house, and escape attempts, so any adopter should plan for hands-on supervision and a secure environment. Another friendly, confident dog could help Nyx settle in. She’s a sensitive dog who’s ready for a new chapter in the right hands. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
