She’s overcome more than her share: rescued just in time from euthanasia and missing her tongue due to unknown trauma, Penelope’s story is one of resilience and hope. Since healing in foster care, she’s become a loving companion who wants nothing more than close company and soft laps. Penelope is happiest when she’s around people—she follows children with gentle curiosity and wants to be part of every play session. When the kids need a break, she’ll curl up for a snooze or bask in the sun. Penelope is a social butterfly with dogs of all sizes. She enjoys the company of canine friends, especially those with energy to match, but remains gentle around smaller pups. She isn’t a fit for homes with cats. Her care needs are straightforward: because she’s missing her tongue, her meals are given as small “meatballs,” which she’s mastered with determination. Penelope has grown from underweight to strong and healthy, and she’s ready to share her quiet joy with a forever family.
