Chewy thrives with patient, experienced adopters—especially those familiar with nervous dogs or chihuahuas that need time to open up. He’s made solid progress with things like leash work and likes going outdoors to sniff, run, and chase squeaky toys, though he prefers to keep his toys rather than bring them back. Chewy does okay with other small dogs, usually mirroring their energy, so a calm canine companion could be a fit. However, he’s not suited to a home with children. Chewy has some allergies that caused skin issues and an upset stomach in the past, so he’ll need to continue on his fish-based diet and daily allergy meds (Apoquel) for the long haul—they’ve helped him feel much better.
