Chewy is a small, young male Chihuahua/Terrier mix. He is currently being cared for at Will County Humane Society. Chewy is spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. He has some allergies, so he requires a fish-based diet and daily Apoquel medication for his sensitive skin and stomach.

About Chewy

They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply? Meet Chewy, a 2-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix weighing about 16 pounds, now seeking a loving forever home after being found as a stray. When Chewy first arrived, he was very nervous and easily startled, but he has made impressive progress and now enjoys pets and spending time with people. He still requires patience and gentle introductions as he adjusts, as quick movements can still spook him. Chewy has shown bravery with leashing and petting and loves going outside to play, explore, and especially to chase squeaky plush toys—though he prefers to carry them rather than bring them back! Chewy has interacted well with similarly sized dogs, matching their energy, but he's best with calm companions. He gets excited by playful dogs but should be placed in a home without children. He will thrive with an adopter experienced with nervous dogs or finicky chihuahuas, providing the gentle support and patience he needs to truly blossom. Chewy also has some allergies that caused past skin and stomach irritation, so he is now on a special fish-based diet and takes daily Apoquel, both of which have worked wonders and need to continue long-term. Born under the adaptable and curious sign of Gemini, Chewy brings the playful energy and charm that only a true Gemini can offer! Make their next chapter their best one yet.
