About Jamie

Make their next chapter their best one yet. Meet Jamie! Jamie is a friendly, low-energy, 6-year-old male Great Pyrenees weighing in at 85 pounds. He came into rescue needing medical care for an upper respiratory infection, skin issues, and heartworms, but has made a wonderful recovery. His beautiful coat has filled in, and his slow-kill heartworm treatment will be continued with medications provided by the rescue. You'll find Jamie lounging around the house, happily resting in comfortable spots or presenting his belly for pets—belly rubs are his favorite. He does a great "speed bump" impression, often relaxing by doorways. Jamie is sweet and ultra-calm, and he absolutely adores children, having done beautifully in families with little ones. He'll need to be the only dog in his home, as past experiences with other dogs have left him fearful. Jamie is both house and crate trained and thrives with his own safe space. He's a good match for apartment living due to his low exercise needs, though he enjoys walks. Jamie does bark at outside noises or strangers from time to time, especially at sirens, but is improving with car rides. He is also working through a fear of slick floors, so he prefers homes with plenty of rugs or carpet. Jamie's fostering in DFW, Texas, and while out-of-state adopters are welcome, they will need to arrange transport themselves. Jamie is neutered and fully vaccinated.
