Kiddo is decompressing in her foster home in New Jersey and has already begun settling into a routine. She's not fully house trained yet, but hasn't had any accidents in the past couple of days and shows promise with her smart, eager-to-learn attitude. Her personality is pure dachshund: short legs, long body, and chock full of curiosity, devotion, and a bit of protectiveness. She enjoys playing, relishes leash walks, and loves cuddle sessions on the couch. Kiddo will be glued to your side—she's happy to join in any car ride and makes an excellent, if slightly nosy, companion for relaxation or zoomies. This loyal girl is excellent at alerting her people to anyone entering the home, and her foster family jokes that the kids won’t be able to sneak out unnoticed anymore. Kiddo was the staff favorite in Georgia for good reason: she's sweet and outgoing. Though she played well with one friend at the shelter, she's shown she's not as fond of other dogs outside that setting, so she’d do best as the only dog in the home. Kiddo gets along well with children and thrives on human attention. Her start in life was rough, abandoned at a pet store during an adoption event, but she’s persistently affectionate and playful even after all she’s experienced. She’s spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and recently tested negative for heartworm.
