Celeste has a big presence and just as big a heart. She’s got the curiosity of a dog—she’ll sniff your hand before deciding if it’s time for pets, generally motivated by the hope of a treat. At night, she’s been known to curl up on your pillow, purring so deeply it lulls you to sleep. Chasing a laser pointer, basking in the sunlight, or keeping tabs on her foster parents from the nearest perch are some of her favorite ways to spend the day. She’s chunky but lively and loves to be near her people, often following from room to room. Celeste is all about gentle affection, though she’s shy at first and needs patience to settle in. Once she warms up, she’s a loving companion—seeking head rubs on her cat tree or rolling for belly scritches after a bit of catnip. She’s vocal when it suits her, letting you know (in her own irresistible way) if she wants something. Tennis on TV apparently gets her attention. She’ll stick close, happy to share space with her favorite humans. Celeste needs a calm home with an experienced adopter who understands she’ll need time to adjust. Older, cat-savvy children are fine, but she must be the only cat—she’s happier that way. Celeste was severely overweight when she arrived; she’s on a strict calorie-controlled, mostly canned food diet, and this will need ongoing commitment and monthly weigh-ins. A pet scale will come with her. She’s made good progress but must stay on her plan for long-term health.
