About Dorothy
Start your journey together! Apply now. Dorothy has not had the easiest start in life, but she is ready for a fresh beginning with someone who will provide her the love and patience she truly deserves. This beautiful black domestic short hair began her days as a stray and has overcome more challenges than most, including losing her babies due to a medical emergency and currently battling heartworm. Dorothy needs a hero who will grant her the grace and understanding she deserves as she heals, especially during her heartworm treatment. While she may seem independent and might need extra time to settle in, your patience will be rewarded. Dorothy is a little reserved at first, but once she feels secure, she’s sure to keep a loving watch over you, always making sure you are safe—just as she hopes you’ll do for her. She gets along with other cats and, if dogs are respectful of her space, can do well with canine companions, too. Dorothy thrives best in a calm environment, where she can rest and recover in peace; any animal siblings she may have will need to let her set the pace. With a little adjustment and a big heart, Dorothy will blossom into a loyal friend—expect plenty of loving leg rubs and sweet bathroom check-ins once she’s made herself at home. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
