About Yoda

Meet Yoda, a big-hearted black shepherd mix tipping the scales at around 80 pounds and carrying all the intelligence you'd hope for in a smart working breed. At just 2 years old, he’s dynamic and playful—you’ll often find him tossing a football or cuddling up on the sofa after a good game of fetch. He’s also got a thing for chasing bees, and he really thrives when he’s near his people. Obedience comes naturally to Yoda; he’s eager to please and has been impressing everyone in training, already mastering commands like sit, fetch, and even doggie-door etiquette. Yoda is friendly with everyone who visits, getting along especially well with children (he lived with kids aged 11 and 13 in his foster home). He’s house trained, sleeps soundly in his kennel, and rarely barks. However, he can be reactive on leash when encountering other dogs and prefers to be the only dog in the home now, despite earlier success with other dogs in the shelter setting. He’ll need an adopter with a patient, steady approach and a securely fenced backyard where he can run and play safely. His gentle side shows in the way he handles toys and responds well to commands, and he’s happy to chill out right alongside his family when playtime is over. Yoda is neutered and fully vaccinated, making him ready for his next adventure. Click apply to start the adoption process.
