Josie
AvailableJosie is a female Shepherd/mixed breed with a short black coat, approximately 3 years and 9 months old, currently located in Columbia, MO. She is house trained, spayed, and has up-to-date vaccinations. Josie’s bright personality pairs well with her medium size and active nature.
About Josie
Josie starts out shy but quickly lets her guard down for those who give her a moment. Once she decides you're her person, her loyalty shines right through. Josie's sharp and picks up commands fast—she already knows sit and is learning down and stay. House trained and communicative, she'll let you know she needs to go out, and she’s also pretty good on a leash, though her curiosity can get the best of her nose from time to time. If you're an active person or enjoy hiking, Josie's right there with you. She loves to explore, jumping up on ledges and happily riding in the car. She's still gaining confidence with new environments but clearly has an adventurous spark. She's not a fan of crates and will make her opinion known, so a home where she doesn’t need to be crated—especially not in an apartment—is a must. Josie does well when left loose in the house. She loves to play with other dogs and enjoys doggie daycare. Her behavior with cats and small children is unknown, but because of her initial caution, she’d thrive in a home with older kids who can let her take the lead during introductions. Questions about Josie

Josie’s Shepherd/mixed breed roots mean she’s well-suited to an active home with space to roam. She’ll do best in a house with access to outdoor areas, ideally with an active adopter.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Josie, being a medium-sized Shepherd mix, benefits from daily walks and room to exercise. A fenced yard is ideal, but regular trips to parks or hiking trails can also meet her needs.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Shepherd mixes like Josie are usually fine with children who respect boundaries, but due to her cautious nature, Josie would do best with older kids who understand how to give her space.
