About Opal
Opal came into rescue when her owner passed away, and the spouse did not want her. Opal had been living tied to a chain on a front porch for years in the Houston heat. Surprisingly, Opal is housebroken and has wonderful house manners. Perhaps she had been a house dog at some point in her life. She is elderly (guessing 8+), and has heartworms, but we are working to treat her! Opal will run around the yard and play with other dogs a bit, but mostly likes to snuggle in her bed and chill. Opal loves food and has gained weight. She has gotten rid of all other parasites and fleas, and has come a long way in a year. She would love her own family to pamper her in her golden years. We think she is a Shar-Pei or Chow mix (black tongue) maybe mixed with Shepherd or ?? She weighs about 60 lbs currently. Opal is good in the house, uses a dog door, and does not need to be crated when her owners are away. She would be a great buddy for an elderly person who just wants a companion to hang out with. She does not do well with cats or livestock.
