About Gio

Meet Gio, the 78-pound black lab mix who specializes in bear hugs! At 4 years old, this affectionate boy is all about sharing love and enjoys wrapping his paws around you for a big embrace. He'll eagerly climb into your lap once he feels like you're a friend, soaking up all the attention you can give. Gio truly is a certified love bug, always ready to be your loyal companion. But Gio isn’t just a snuggler. He has a playful side as well! He enjoys his daily walks and loves splashing around in the water, and he’s getting more comfortable in the pool with practice. His balanced energy makes him an ideal companion for both adventure and relaxation. Car rides are a breeze for him, and he’s just as happy to lounge at home with his favorite humans. Gio is also eager to learn, excelling in obedience classes and mastering leash walking. While he can show a little food guarding, he's making steady progress. He currently shares his space with three older female dogs and is respectful of their boundaries. However, he doesn’t get along with the male dog in the house, so a home with female dogs or as the only pet might suit him best. He hasn’t been introduced to cats yet, but he may adapt with proper introductions. Gio is crate-trained and occasionally gets bored, leading to some chewing, but with enough toys, he stays entertained. His potential adopter will receive a few training sessions to help ensure a smooth transition into his forever home. If you're seeking a big-hearted pup who enjoys adventures as much as cuddle time, Gio is ready to steal your heart and fill your home with his love. Give him the home he has been waiting for.
