About Jd
Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you. JD is an approximately 8-year-old Shih Tzu searching for a very special forever home. Rescued as a stray, much of his past is a mystery, but his personality has revealed unique needs. JD must be the only pet as he does not get along with other animals, and he’s happiest with one or two adult humans. Although selective in bonding, he's capable of being very sweet and loves playing with stuffed toys and sitting on a lap while doing so. JD enjoys running in a fenced yard, playing fetch, and taking occasional walks. At times, JD prefers his own space and doesn’t always appreciate petting. He benefits from a strong, confident owner who can reinforce positive behaviors gently and set limits. It’s best to keep him off furniture, as he may become grumpy if disturbed but adores his comfy dog beds. JD relishes banana and carrot treats, which work well for positive reinforcement, but should be left alone during meals or when chewing a bone. He is crate trained, knows some basic commands, and sometimes enjoys being leashed for walks. JD’s ideal adopter is committed to continued training and willing to work with trainers to ensure his happiest future. He chooses when to give affection and is looking for someone to love him on his terms. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
