Vinny is a 3-year, 11-month-old neutered male Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler with a short black and gray-blue coat who’s house trained and vaccinated. He is considered medium-sized, currently located in Jacksonville, OR. Vinny has special needs and will benefit from an adopter who can keep up with his training.

About Vinny

Vinny’s the sort of dog who’ll impress you with his manners and smarts. He arrived at Sanctuary One after time in a crowded shelter, where staff raved about how he handled dogs and kids. When Vinny first landed here, he mingled well with other shelter dogs and staff alike. He was briefly adopted, but came back after showing some resource guarding with food and toys—something we hadn’t seen before. To set him up for success, our trainers took Vinny home for two weeks of intensive training. He caught on quickly, keeping up with every new skill. Vinny still holds onto those lessons—he’s sharp and eager to learn. He loves his training sessions and gets a kick out of advanced obedience tricks, so the right adopter will enjoy keeping his big brain engaged. Scent work or further training would be right up his alley. He gives the best hugs and has a sweet streak, but he needs someone committed to reinforcing all he’s learned. Vinny does not get along with cats, but plays nicely with dogs. He needs a special adopter willing to keep up with his training, as he’s not your average companion. Vinny is in Jacksonville, OR, and—fun fact—since he was born June 7, he’s a Gemini (curious and clever as they come). Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
