Big Mack
AvailableBig Mack is a medium-sized, neutered male mixed-breed domestic short hair cat who is about 3 years and 1 month old, currently in San Antonio, TX. He is house trained, vaccinated, and FIV positive, but steady care has helped him regain his weight and health after a diabetes diagnosis. Big Mack is easy to care for when it comes to insulin and blood sugar checks, with a food-motivated personality that makes his care routine easier for the right adopter.
About Big Mack
Big Mack’s name fits him, and especially so when it’s time for his blood glucose test. Originally adopted as an adult FIV-positive cat, Big Mack lost his home when his adopter fell ill, and his own health soon worsened—he returned at only 7 pounds with a dental infection and was newly diagnosed with diabetes. Since then, steady care has brought him back to nearly 12 pounds at just over 2.5 years old. He handles blood sugar checks and insulin with surprising ease, never flinching, especially if food is involved. Big Mack is all about meal times—he’ll talk, gently pat your hand, and sometimes sneak a playful nibble as he waits for his Fancy Feast Classic Pate. He’s happiest with someone who can reliably monitor diabetes, give insulin, and keep his diet steady. In exchange, expect a big personality, open affection, and plenty of mealtime antics. Fun fact: with an April birthday, Big Mack is a Taurus—unsurprisingly, known for steadfastness and a love of comfort. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
