About Sorcha
Fanny is a large, striking blend of Irish Wolfhound and Anatolian Shepherd, born January 31, 2022—an Aquarius, which fits her independent, quirky spirit. At just over three years old, Fanny is spayed and up to date on all her vaccinations. She’s lived her whole life with her current owner in rural Colorado, but a change in circumstances means she can’t get the exercise or training she needs. Fanny is house trained and very smart—she’ll sit, lie down, and listen to correction, though she could use a bit more polish. Her temperament is easy-going and affectionate, but being bullied by other dogs has made her wary, so she sometimes responds with fear-based reactivity, especially when confronted by strange dogs. Still, she gets along with most dogs and warms up to new canine friends. Fanny prefers to keep strangers away from her territory but has never been aggressive to people. She has not had experience with children or cats. Nighttime brings out her lovely contralto howl, especially under a full moon, but she’s generally quiet otherwise. Given her protective instincts and love for space, Fanny will thrive in a rural setting where she’s the only dog or has carefully managed introductions. She needs a patient home, some consistent training, and, above all, a sense of safety and affection. Every animal, including Fanny, deserves their own soft spot to land. Ready to fall in love? Questions about Sorcha
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Sorcha, as an Irish Wolfhound/Anatolian Shepherd mix, typically does best in rural or semi-rural settings with ample space. These breeds love open areas and benefit from a calm, spacious environment.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
A large, securely fenced yard or acreage suits Sorcha’s breed mix well. She enjoys spending time outdoors with room to roam and explore safely.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Both Irish Wolfhounds and Anatolian Shepherds can be gentle and protective, so Sorcha could do well with older, respectful children, especially if gradually introduced. However, since she hasn't been around kids, supervision would be important initially.
