About Winnie

Some animals come to us with stories that stay in our hearts forever and Winnie is one of them. Winnie was found abandoned on a stranger's front porch, left inside a small kennel with her name taped to the top. No one knew who she belonged to. No one stayed with her. She simply waited, alone, hoping someone would find her. When Winnie first came into rescue, she appeared to be a young cat. But almost immediately, it became clear that something was very wrong. She struggled to eat, and that's when her story began to unfold. Veterinary care revealed that Winnie was suffering from severe stomatitis, a painful condition that left her with only eight teeth - all of which had to be removed so she could finally eat without pain. She has made a complete recovery and won't have to struggle with stomatitis ever again. Because of it though, her age is unknown but estimated to be a middle aged adult. Winnie is tiny and petite, weighing just 6 pounds. When she first arrived, she was only 4.9 pounds, frail with a dull, brittle coat. Today, with proper care, love, and the right diet, her fur is soft, glossy, and healthy. She does require a special canned-food diet to support her pre-diabetic levels, but she is thriving on it. A consistent diet is what she needs to stay healthy and comfortable. What touches us most is that despite everything she's endured - abandonment, pain, hunger - Winnie has the warmest, most affectionate spirit. She is incredibly vocal, loves to snuggle, and her foster says she runs her household. Her personality is way bigger than her tiny body. Winnie would do wonderfully as an only cat, but she also gets along well with other cats and even the dogs in her foster home. She simply wants love in any form it's offered. Winnie has endured so much, and all she asks for now is a chance to finally be loved in a forever home with a family who will never leave her behind again.
