About Ella
What are you waiting for? Apply today! There is no better word to describe Ella than FABULOUS! Around 2.5 years old and weighing approximately 60 lbs, she’s a striking beauty who embodies all the best qualities you'd want in a dog. Ella is incredibly smart, eager to please, focused, and naturally very submissive. True to her working breed roots—she’s a German Shepherd/Border Collie mix—Ella is high energy and needs both physical activity and mental stimulation to thrive. Herding comes naturally to her, so she’d be a fantastic fit for a ranch lifestyle or could excel at scent work, lure coursing, obedience, or agility. After a good outlet for her energy, Ella becomes a relaxed, calm, and quiet presence in the home. She is crate trained and house trained (using a doggie door), walks beautifully on leash, and knows basic commands such as sit, down, stay, come, place, release, and off. Her manners extend to mealtime—she’ll even wait in a sit for her food until told she can eat. Ella enjoys playing with other dogs but her style is rough and herding-inspired, so she pairs best with dogs that appreciate similar games. She’s very curious about cats and will chase them, so she needs a no-cat home. Ella can be shy with new people and is more comfortable with women than with men. She has no experience with children, so a family with no kids under 8 is recommended. As a fun note, with a December 1st birthday, Ella is a Sagittarius—full of energy, always seeking adventure, and loving new challenges! Make sure to ask about Ella’s incredible rescue journey! Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.

Questions about Ella
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
German Shepherd/Border Collie mixes thrive in active homes that offer plenty of space to move and lots of activities to keep them mentally and physically challenged. They flourish in families dedicated to engaging with them daily, ideally with access to a yard or rural space.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
This mix needs ample outdoor space for exercise and play. A secure yard is ideal, but regular trips to the park, hikes, and other engaging activities are essential to fulfill their high energy needs.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
While generally good with children, these breeds can be energetic and sometimes herding-inclined, making supervision with young kids important. Older children who understand how to interact respectfully are usually best.
