About Reno

Reno is a gentle, patient Yorkshire Terrier who’s had a tough start. Coming from a commercial breeder, he missed early experiences most dogs take for granted—life indoors, forming close bonds, daily routines. Understandably, he’s shy and unsure of new things, but once Reno feels safe, he craves connection and will stick close to his person like Velcro. He needs a home that moves at his pace, with adopters who understand decompression takes time. Reno’s friendly and sweet-natured, happiest following his chosen human from room to room. He’s most comfortable indoors—outdoor walks on a leash are still a mystery to him. He’s working on house training, partly using pee pads right now, and needs a fenced yard for gradual potty training since the outdoors still feels scary. Despite being okay with other dogs in the home, Reno isn’t looking for a playmate—he’d rather focus on bonding with people. Reno is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and just had his teeth cleaned. At 1 year and 9 months old, he’s still young but needs a patient, structured, and loving family committed for the long haul—little dogs can live past 20 years. Adopters in the Chicago metro area only, and home visits are part of the process. Reno is a Leo, so don’t be surprised if he craves the spotlight with gentle affection. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
