About Grace
Grace is a resilient and affectionate Shih Tzu mix with a small frame and plenty of spirit. Her start was rough—she was left abandoned and nearly starved before animal control found her. When Grace arrived, she was weak and unable to walk, but after months of care, she's blossomed into a healthy, curious companion. She’s now fully vetted, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. Grace loves spending time outdoors, often alerting her people to anyone passing by her gate. She enjoys playing with other dogs and does well with cats. Due to her history of food guarding, Grace is not a fit for homes with young children. She’s house trained but can be stubborn about coming inside, so consistency and continued training will be important. Grace thrives in a home with a yard and needs a steady routine, structure, and gentle patience. Training will help her adjust and bond more deeply with her people. Because small dogs like Grace can live 20+ years, she’s looking for adopters ready for that long-term commitment. Grace is searching for a home in the Chicago metro area, and home visits are required. Ready to make a difference for a dog who’s survived so much? What are you waiting for? Apply today!
