About Gerry
Gerry is an ex-puppy mill dog who needs a patient home ready to help him blossom. At just over a year old, he is a small, active fellow with an endearing underbite. The first year of his life was spent inside a mill, but now Gerry is learning what it means to live in a real home. He’s come a long way but still startles at unfamiliar sounds and new routines—every day brings a new experience for him. Life outside the mill is still new. Gerry is crate and potty trained, but expect some accidents as he makes the transition into your home. For safety, he must have a securely fenced yard; this isn’t optional for a dog like Gerry, who is still learning about the world. He needs an adult household familiar with shy dogs and ready to be vigilant about doors and gates. He thrives around other respectful, similarly sized dogs and will learn fastest with a confident canine companion, but isn’t suited to homes with cats or small, frail dogs. Gerry is smart, gentle, and quiet, and once comfortable, shows his charming poodle personality. Ongoing training, including agility, would benefit him greatly and help strengthen the bond with his adopter. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Gerry needs a committed family in the Chicago area ready for the long haul—he could be with you for 20 years. Start your journey together! Apply now.
