Meet Calypso, the sweet, silly, sofa-surfer who has quietly charmed everyone at the rescue since December 2022. With a mellow temperament and affection to spare, Calypso manages to balance both playfulness and calm — she’s the kind of dog who’ll nudge you for a cuddle, roll over for belly rubs, and then nap contentedly in your presence. She does well with most children and thrives on human companionship without being needy. Calypso comes with solid basic skills: she knows “Sit,” is leash trained, uses a doggy door, and is food-motivated (making her eager to keep learning). She’s working on “Shake” and “Roll Over,” and she’s unfazed by handling — you can touch her paws and tail, or surprise her with forehead kisses. She usually bonds best with confident male dogs and is currently living with a buddy; they romp, chase, and then collapse for long naps. However, Calypso prefers to be the only "cat" in the household and is not a fit for homes with felines. Her personality has a cat-like edge: she likes perching up high and loves a good nap.
