Ruby is a 7-year-old medium-sized mixed breed who was born in Zambezia and has traded African sun for urban life in Brooklyn. He’s completely housetrained and clearly communicates when he’s after a walk, a treat, or affection. Once he’s comfortable with you, Ruby proves to be remarkably loyal and happiest out on the trail—he’s the kind of hiking companion who sets a steady pace and stays attentive. Though the city brought some initial anxiety, Ruby has grown much more confident in his neighborhood. He’s calm and social on walks with other dogs, but becomes protective at home and doesn’t do well with lots of noise or unpredictable situations. Living with a toddler has made things hard for him, and his resource guarding—once rooted in fear—is only an issue when routines break down. That’s why Ruby needs an adult-only, pet-free home, ideally with someone experienced and patient who’ll stick with his training and maintain a predictable environment. Ruby’s smart and thrives under gentle leadership where he knows he’s safe. He’ll arrive with three free sessions from his trainer and all his gear.
