About Rocco

Meet Rocco, a small, scruffy terrier/poodle mix tipping the scales at under 15lbs and somewhere around 4 or 5 years old. Rocco puts on a show for strangers with his tough-guy bark, but once he bonds, he relaxes, especially with staff he trusts. He likes walks and car rides, but on his terms. Rocco is happiest in a calm adult home, with space to do his own thing and a family that respects his need for independence. Mealtime is a solitary event for him—he prefers to dine alone and appreciates people who don’t hover. Rocco’s background was rough: he never saw a vet with previous owners, even after a severe back injury left him temporarily paralyzed. He’s managed to recover most of his mobility but still moves a little wobbly behind. Softer surfaces and grass help, and running up and down stairs or jumping on furniture isn’t safe for his back. He’s also managing GI issues and has been diagnosed with IBD, but he’s stable now on a prescription diet and medication. Rocco was never socialized with other dogs and makes his boundaries clear—he’ll bark to keep them away. He isn’t perfect, but quirky dogs like Rocco have their own special way of showing trust and loyalty. If you’re looking for a meaningful connection and have the right calm environment, Rocco could be your guy. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
