About Lucy
Lucy is a gentle, senior Basset Hound–Terrier mix who’s spent most of her life without much comfort. She and her brother Ricky were surrendered to Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue after years of neglect and hardship, having suffered abuse and a total lack of proper care. Lucy came in with severe dental disease and a heart murmur, but now she’s safe and gradually discovering that kindness does exist. She’s the quieter sibling—timid and slow to trust, flinching sometimes when someone reaches to pet her. Despite her trauma, she’s incredibly sweet and calm, happiest when curled up in soft blankets or quietly trailing her foster mom around the house. She is potty trained, though she can have occasional accidents, and she’s learning, a little more each day, how to feel secure. Lucy is open to sharing space with other dogs and cats and would do best somewhere patient people will give her time to bloom. Make their next chapter their best one yet.

Questions about Lucy
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Lucy, a Basset Hound–Terrier mix, would thrive in a quiet, stable home where she can relax and adjust at her own pace. These mixes are comfortable in both houses and apartments as long as they get enough attention and a cozy place to rest.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Basset Hound–Terrier mixes like Lucy do well with daily walks and some time to explore outside, but they don't require an extensive yard. A small fenced-in area or regular leash walks are usually enough.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Lucy’s breed mix is typically gentle and patient, which can make them suitable for homes with respectful children. However, given Lucy’s timid nature, a home with older, calmer children may be best for her comfort.
