About Nelly
Nelly came into foster care about six weeks ago after being found as a skinny stray in New Caney. She's a spayed Pug and has had corrective nares and palate surgery, setting her up health-wise. Early on, Nelly had a strong twirling and tail-chasing behavior when startled, overwhelmed, or just impatient for food. Over time, it's faded—these days, you'll mostly see her spin when she's eagerly expecting a meal. She's now completely house trained and uses the dog door independently to go outside. Nelly is sharp and highly treat-motivated. She'll even wait by her potty spot for a reward and quickly picked up routines around feeding. She seems accustomed to spending time solo and generally ignores the three other dogs in the house. Nelly isn't a cuddler, but she's quietly loyal and wants to stay near you. We're still working on desensitizing her to being held. She never instigates conflict but will swipe treats quickly if not managed, so she eats safely in a pen. Nelly's made big strides in a short time, and she keeps showing improvement. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
