About Diesel

Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin! Diesel is a handsome, large, 4-year-old black Lab mix with short fur accented by white markings. This lovely boy weighs in at 61 pounds and has had his share of challenges, often feeling nervous and unsure in new situations—he may shut down if overwhelmed and needs time, tenderness, and understanding to blossom. At the shelter, patient handling has helped Diesel make wonderful progress, particularly bonding closely with the staff. Although he gravitates toward women, Diesel has shown good interactions with male caregivers recently. Diesel would be happiest in a calm, supportive home with a patient adopter willing to move at his pace. He has previously done well living with children, making him suitable for families, but to give him the best chance to thrive, he should be the only pet. Diesel has tested negative for heartworms and Lyme, and he’ll be neutered, microchipped, and receive all vaccinations before going to his forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion and are ready to help a wonderful dog build his confidence, Diesel is waiting in Porter County for the right person to give him the love and stability he truly deserves. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
