About Bender
Bender is a large, muscular Pit Bull Terrier mix who’s currently sheltering in Plattsburg, MO. He’s neutered, vaccinated, and fully house trained, but shelter life isn’t doing him any favors—he needs out and would thrive in a home with structure and clear boundaries. This is a dog built like a tank but with a needy streak: he wants your undivided attention, craves treats, and thinks he’s a lap dog. Bender’s very loyal to anyone who spends time connecting with him, but his obedience is a work in progress—he knows what you want; he just sometimes negotiates for more snacks. He needs a confident, experienced adopter familiar with strong breeds and prey drive. Bender is highly reactive to cats, small dogs, and other small animals, so he must go to a home without them. When it comes to other big dogs, he might want to play, but his interactions need to be carefully managed; he’s not easy to read or redirect when excited, and he doesn’t trust dogs coming up behind him. Kids in the home should be older (12+) and sturdy, as Bender’s excitement can make him a bulldozer at times, especially when jumping. The shelter is actively working on his social skills and impulse control, and they’ll fill you in on his latest progress. Click apply to start the adoption process.
