AvailableSparky is a small, adult male Maltese/Terrier mix with a curly coat who lives in South Bend, IN. At 6 years and 4 months old, he is neutered, vaccinated, and house trained. Sparky gets along well with both dogs and cats, and his unique personality is a reflection of his breed mix.
About Sparky
Sparky started out nervous and physically run-down, but a grain-free diet and a patient foster home have brought out his personality. He’s living proof that a Maltese/Terrier mix can be quirky, hilarious, and gently demanding all at once. Sparky loves having yard access where he can keep an eye out for intruders (real or imagined). He’s not a fan of crating, but is fine with a good stroll or some outdoor time. Nose-work or agility training would probably suit him—he seems to thrive when challenged. He’s house trained and good in a home setting, sharing space with adults and two cats. Sparky gets along well with other dogs and with cats. He’s appropriate with older kids who respect his space, but gets anxious or hyper-focused with young children and could nip if pushed. He fixates on toys, occasionally getting a little obsessive, and will make a scene if his favorite gets stuck. When really excited, Sparky can get vocal and worked up, but he’s not aggressive—just a bit neurotic and funny. Car rides aren’t his favorite, but he’s learning to enjoy them, especially with his nose to the wind. Sparky’s a sweet, slightly frazzled guy who just wants structure and the right kind of affection.
