About Buddy
Buddy is a well-mannered, middle-aged Pit Bull Terrier who has spent too many years cycling through the shelter system. He’s fully housebroken, crate trained, and reliably calm when left home alone. Buddy walks nicely on leash, knows basic commands, and listens—though he’s got a habit of tuning out anything that isn’t good news. He’s affectionate and lives for cuddle time, snacks, treats, hikes, and car rides. At home, he’s a gentle couch potato and happy companion. Buddy gets along with children and has shared kennels with a variety of other dogs, though he can be dog selective and requires slow introductions—ideally with a muzzle at first. Meeting any resident dogs before adoption is required. Buddy cannot live with cats or small pets; he has a strong prey drive and a history of aggression toward them. Supervision and a dragline leash are recommended in outdoor spaces, and he must be kept away from dog parks and areas where unknown dogs might approach. He warms up slowly to new people, especially men, so slow intros and a safe space are a must for the first couple of weeks. He’s people selective—recommend muzzle training for initial meetings and putting him in a separate space if lots of guests are over. Buddy is reportedly deaf, so hand signals and consistency are important. He can also get hyperfocused on lights and shadows; recall and handler engagement are key to breaking this habit—no laser pointers, please. Buddy deserves a stable home where someone understands his quirks and boundaries. Click apply to start the adoption process.
