Phoenix came from a chaotic hoarding rescue and started out wary and timid, but always gentle. Over time, he learned to appreciate being around people, even if he still sizes you up before relaxing. Last year, Phoenix began dangerously losing weight despite eating all the time—a mystery until a vet discovered an intestinal mass and performed urgent surgery. The mass was malignant, but doctors removed it cleanly and he bounced back, regaining weight and loving life again. These days Phoenix lives in a foster home with other cats and gets along with them well. He prefers to interact on his own schedule, but if you’re patient, he enjoys people too.
