Melman, formerly known as Koko, is a 2.5-year-old neutered male Anatolian Shepherd in Tucson, AZ. He’s a towering, goofy boy who lives up to his giraffe-inspired name with a bit of a wobbly gait, thanks to having recovered from two hip surgeries. Though still working on gaining back full strength and weight, Melman gets around on his own and is motivated by food, love, and any attention you’ll send his way. He happily takes his pain meds and supplements, making care straightforward. Despite his size, this gentle giant is happiest glued to your side — he’s a classic Velcro dog through and through. Melman thrives on cuddles, pets, and snoozing by your side. He gets along with cats and can live with calm, submissive dogs, but would also be content as your one-and-only. Melman has shown he’s friendly with humans of all ages, though older kids who respect his recovery are a better fit for now. He walks well on a leash, is house trained, and still working through his feelings on crates.
