About Melman Aka Koko

They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply? Please meet Melman, also known as Koko! This gentle giant is a 2.5-year-old neutered male Anatolian Shepherd who is both up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Melman has a huge heart and is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home where he can continue healing after two hip surgeries. Despite being a little wobbly, he’s getting around just fine and needs a caring place to help him gain weight and strength through ongoing rehabilitation. Known for his goofy personality and tall, lanky frame (reminiscent of his giraffe namesake!), Melman is a true Velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be his human’s loyal companion. He adores snuggling on the couch and relishes a good pet. His foster experience shows that he doesn’t mind cats and can mix well with other dogs—ideally, calm or submissive companions—or as the only pup getting all the spotlight and affection. Melman walks nicely on a leash, is friendly with everyone he meets, and although he’s done well with kids in his foster home, older children who understand and respect his recovery process are recommended. He is currently working on his crate training and is house trained. Melman continues to need weekly physical therapy and some vet visits, which are currently covered by PACC, along with his medication. He does not do well in a shelter environment, so getting him into a loving home as soon as possible is a priority. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
