Godwin is a 3.5-year-old Pit Bull/Great Dane mix who came to us from McKamey Animal Center when they needed extra help. Sleek and sturdy in his black and cream coat, Godwin stands out as a "wiggly sweetheart" once he gets to know you—a dog who bonds deeply and prefers meaningful connections over constant fanfare. Volunteers find him an energetic companion on hikes, a relaxed car rider, and a dog who comes alive when he’s got some space to explore, especially if there’s water nearby. Godwin isn’t pushy or needy; he’s observant, a little reserved at first, and certainly not climbing into every lap in sight. His loyalty runs deep once you earn it, and he’s especially drawn to patient, quieter types. Godwin’s approach to other dogs is similar: he might enjoy a gentle, female canine around, but he’s just as content to soak up life as your only four-legged mate. House trained, smart, and easily motivated (especially by treats), he’d thrive with someone who values trust and adventure over instant connection. Godwin doesn’t get along with cats, so a home without them is a must. If you love exploring but also respect a dog’s need to bond in their own time, Godwin could be your next great friend.
