About Cornelia
Cornelia has been with Paws Humane since July, and behind her quiet eyes is a story of survival and resilience. Before coming to us, Cornelia lived in a difficult and unstable environment where she likely had to fend for herself. She came to us after an incident where she bit while running at large, but those who know her now describe her as calm, shy at first, and very gentle once she feels safe. Her past may have shaped her reactions, but it doesn't define who she is today. With patience, structure, and a slow introduction to new experiences, Cornelia has shown she's capable of warmth, affection, and trust. Volunteers describe her as quiet and soulful - she enjoys slow walks, snuggles, and taking treats politely. She's not demanding or pushy; she simply wants calm companionship and understanding from the people around her. The Challenges (Honest Truth): -Has a documented bite history prior to intake. -May startle easily or feel defensive in unfamiliar or high-energy situations. -Needs a calm, adult-only home experienced with dogs who have a history of fear or trauma. -Requires patience, consistency, and clear structure to continue building trust. Why She's Worth It: -Gentle and affectionate once comfortable. -Polite on leash and enjoys calm walks. -Takes treats gently and appreciates quiet moments. -Deserving of a second chance after a hard start to life. Cornelia isn't a dog for everyone - but for the right person, she'll be a deeply loyal and loving companion. She's been through a lot and deserves a home that sees past her history to the kind, gentle spirit she really is.
