About Kane

Kane’s a 16-month-old Great Dane who’s got energy to burn and a need for space. He’s crate trained, house trained, and leash trained, with a list of commands he knows well—sit, down, stay, wait, and he won’t dart out a door unless given the word. He gets along with other dogs of all sizes and has always had canine siblings, but if you want to make him your only dog he’ll be fine with that as well. Kane thrives on running and playing fetch, de-stuffing toys, and soaking up attention. He’s not a fan of car rides, strangers (especially men), sudden movements, or having his feet touched. Kane’s not suited for a home with small children, though he’s done fine with older kids and families familiar with big, strong breeds—especially those who are patient and can manage his triggers. He needs someone experienced, committed to structured positive reinforcement, and willing to invest in his ongoing training and socialization. He does best with a big fenced yard or regular trips to a secure space where he can run. Kane can be anxious alone, occasionally guards toys around other dogs, and is triggered by overstimulation or stressful corrections, so stability and routine matter. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines and needs to avoid chicken due to a food allergy. Kane is looking for someone who will understand his quirks and give him the space, patience, and activity he craves. Adoption through PAW-fect Match Rescue in Holly Springs, NC. Questions about Kane

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Great Danes like Kane do best in a home with plenty of space to stretch out and a securely fenced yard. Apartment living can be tough for such a large and active dog, so a larger home or access to open land is ideal.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Kane’s breed needs lots of outdoor room—at least a sizable fenced yard—to let out energy. Daily walks and opportunities to run are important for maintaining his physical and mental health.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

While Great Danes are often gentle around older children, Kane is not a good fit for homes with small kids. Families with teens or older children who understand large dogs could be a match.
