About Huck

Start your journey together! Apply now. Huck, affectionately known as Huckleberry Hound, is the quintessential senior hound—goofy, sweet, and always enthusiastic about sharing his day with you. Estimated to be around 8 years old and weighing approximately 60 pounds, Huck is a well-behaved and easygoing companion in the house. He cherishes being close to his people, spending much of his day peacefully napping but always ready for a walk or a meal whenever the opportunity arises. Walks are truly his favorite; he delights in exploring the world with his nose, finding pure joy in sniffing all the interesting scents (though he might pull a bit if a mischievous squirrel comes by). Huck's happiness is evident when he waits for his meals—his tail never stops wagging as he sits for his food. Generally a quiet presence at home, he may chime in if he hears neighborhood dogs barking, curious about the excitement. He's not too interested in toys, preferring the comfort of his own bed and skipping the furniture entirely. This house-trained gentleman puts himself to bed in his open crate every night and sleeps soundly until morning. Huck's gentle nature and eagerness to please make him an excellent companion for individuals or families alike. He thrives on affection—neck and belly rubs are a definite favorite—as well as companionship and consistent walks. Huck is looking for someone who can offer him love, attention, and a cozy home where he can truly shine. Born under the sign of Pisces, Huck brings extra compassion and sensitivity—Pisces pets are known for their gentle, intuitive nature! PAW adopts in the DC, MD, northern VA, and southern PA area only.
