About Emmylou

Emmylou arrived with her six tiny puppies after a tough start, including time in foster care and a shelter where no one would take on a mom with her litter. She's done an excellent job raising her pups and is now ready to find a calm, permanent home. Emmylou is a petite Chihuahua, weighing under 10 lbs and about 2–3 years old. She prefers to keep things low-key—lounging on the couch, snuggling up for affection, and offering gentle kisses. She’s a timid, shy dog but forms close bonds with patient people. She’s nervous around high-energy dogs and would do best with similarly mellow companions. While she does well with children, toddlers can be overwhelming for her. Emmylou tends to bark at passersby and at cats, but she does get along with other dogs and is okay with cats when calmly introduced. She’s uneasy on leash and will need patience, positive training, and encouragement to feel comfortable out and about. Sleeping in a human bed makes her anxious; she opts for the couch instead. Emmylou is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. She needs an adopter who will give her the gentle time and space to decompress and gain confidence at her own pace.
