Meet Duncan – an adult neutered male Maltese with a sharp mind, a soft side, and very specific needs. Duncan is a very smart and affectionate dog, but he requires an experienced, understanding home where his boundaries will be respected without exception. Duncan is a known resource guarder. He will guard his food, treats, and toys, and he does not tolerate people reaching into his space—especially his crate. Duncan is not a good fit for homes with children, other dogs, or high-energy environments. He thrives in calm, low-stimulation settings where he can make choices on his terms. Despite these challenges, Duncan is a very sweet and cuddly guy. He loves to curl up in your lap or snuggle on the couch. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and treat-motivated, which makes structured training and routines very effective for him. He enjoys toys (with supervision) and learning new things. Duncan needs someone who will respect his boundaries, provide a consistent routine, and love him for who he is. He’s not a beginner’s dog, but in the right hands, he’s incredibly intelligent, affectionate, and loyal to his people. With patience, structure, and understanding, Duncan will thrive as a devoted companion in a calm, adult-only home.
