Romaine has experienced more than his share of heartbreak, having spent most of his young life in shelters and boarding facilities rather than a real home. Originally left behind by his former owner after just a short stay in boarding, Romaineās cheerful, friendly spirit was tested. He became depressed, lost interest in his favorite foods, and watched the world from behind kennel bars. But the staff poured their hearts into himāregular car rides, hamburgers, long play sessionsāand gradually, he found his spark again. His ribs filled out, his joy returned, and he formed deep bonds with the people who care for him every day. Now, after years in rescue, Romaine has rediscovered what it means to love people. He adores attention, enjoys cuddling just as much as romping around, and lights up for one-on-one time. While Romaine initially struggled with other dogs, heās done well when paired with mellow, passive pups in play groups and seems particularly fond of female dogs. He is crate trained, has a medium energy level, and while heās playful, he knows how to settle down for a cuddle. Romaine is a silly, loving "bully" mix who walks decently on leash, but could use a refresher. He loves children but does best with kids over 8, simply because heās strong enough to knock little ones over in his excitement.
