?? Meet Modena — a true survivor. ?? Recently, Modena was found near student housing on Skidaway Island — weak, sick, and heartbreakingly close to a pond filled with alligators. When rescuers called to her, she cried back softly as if asking for help. That night, she safely walked into a trap and into the arms of her rescuers. Once home, it was clear something was seriously wrong. She smelled of infection and had deep puncture wounds between her eyes — likely from a bite. Despite it all, she purred, ate eagerly, and curled up to sleep as if she finally felt safe. After looking at her wounds, it was likely a fox who attacked her and this brave soul was able to escape. She’s since had surgery to repair torn tissue around her eyes and is recovering beautifully, though one eye will need another procedure once she’s stronger. It was also revealed that she had fractures in her sinus cavity, but she’s gaining weight and showing her fighting spirit every day. ?
