About Tonka
Tonka arrived as an unclaimed stray, now searching for a stable home in Farmington, MN. At about 3.5 years old and roughly 15 pounds, he’s a large-bodied, black and white tuxedo cat with a short coat. Tonka lives with a grade 2-3 heart murmur, so families will need to keep up with regular medical checkups and ongoing follow-ups to keep him healthy. Independence is the name of his game. Tonka does not care for restraint or being forced into situations; he’ll be happiest with adopters who respect his boundaries, and he's not a match for homes with children under nine. He gets along well with other cats after careful introductions, but his background with dogs remains unclear. Prospective adopters should already keep up with basic pet healthcare—vet references will be checked, and household cats must be FeLV negative. Tonka is neutered, FIV/FeLV negative, current on vaccinations, tested, dewormed, and microchipped. Give him time and space to settle in, and more of his personality will come through as he relaxes in his new environment. Every pet needs a transition period to truly become comfortable.
