About Tank
Tank is a four-year-old Heeler/Bluetick mix weighing about 45lbs, surrendered by his owner due to financial hardship. Lately, the changes and shelter life have caused him some stress. Tank is a high-energy dog who can also happily lounge on the couch. He is affectionate, often seeking out laps for comfort, and enjoys a good game of tug-of-war or working on a bone. He gets excited—sometimes jumping up—and will bark a lot, so a patient and assertive owner is important. Tank is food-aggressive and should be handled with care around meals. He walks on leash, is playful, enjoys car rides, and is pretty sharp, already knowing 'sit'. Tank gets along well with women and is fair around men and children, but he does not do well with other dogs and absolutely cannot go to a home with cats—he has hurt them in the past. He has lived both indoors and outside, but is not yet house trained. He’ll try to escape if left unattended, so strong fencing and supervision are musts. If you’re looking for an active, affectionate, and clever companion and don’t have other pets, Tank may be the right fit. Let's make it official, apply to adopt!

Questions about Tank
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Tank, as a Heeler/Bluetick mix, does best in active homes with secure yards and space to burn off energy. His breed is happiest when he has plenty of exercise and structure.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
This breed mix—like Tank—needs a fenced yard or regular access to large, secured outdoor areas, since Heelers have high exercise needs and love to run. Apartment living is tough unless they get lots of daily activity.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Tank's breed can be suitable for homes with older, respectful children who understand dog boundaries, but he needs supervision as herding dogs can be jumpy and mouthy during play.
