These 2-year-old girls are simply irresistible, but they are hoping you resist the urge to reach into their cage to give them some much deserved love, at least for now. Daphne and Violet are still learning to trust, and after nearly a year and a half at NAWS Humane Society of Illinois, progress has been slow. They are never mean and always sweet, just nervous to give in and be loved. They were found as strays, so we cannot say what happened to them to make them so cautious around people, but we can control their future and do our best to make sure it is filled with love, safety, and security, all of which they desperately crave. They will need an adopter who is willing to let them go at their pace, someone who will not give up on them. Daphne, who is black and white, and Violet, who is gray and white, are shy and rely on each other for comfort, which is why they must be adopted together as a bonded pair. You can find them huddled together when they are nervous, providing each other with the reassurance that everything will be okay. What is interesting about these ladies is the way they watch visitors and volunteers alike walk through the Bistro that they have called their home for far too long. They will go up to the bars of their tower and appear to want attention and affection. This shows us that deep inside, they are ready to love and be loved. They just need the right person to bring out their confidence and help them blossom. Daphne and Violet are looking for a quiet home that will have space for them to acclimate and set their own boundaries that will let them get used to life outside of a cage. Providing them with time and patience can help ensure their success.
