About Miles
Your new best friend is just one click away. Miles is a complete love bug who thrives on affection and positive reinforcement. He currently shares his foster home with two tiny senior female Chihuahuas, always waiting patiently while they get the first treats and dinner. With a foster mom who works from home, Miles shows his sensitive side, taking in the feelings of those around him and doing his best to keep everyone happy and safe. Naturally watchful and incredibly smart, Miles displays the loyal, protective nature true to his breed. He works hard in his specialized training to balance his protective instincts and needs a gentle, consistent adopter who can provide positive reinforcement. Raised voices or signs that he has done something wrong will cause him to shut down, so a calm, predictable home is best. His perfect match is an adult-only household (since young children could raise his protective drive), ideally with someone around most of the day and a secure, fenced yard for outdoor time. Miles loves attention, treats, snuggles, and walks. He's house trained, knows basic commands like sit, down, wait, gentle, go potty, and walks well on a leash. He is not crate trained—crating raises his anxiety—but does very well left free in the home. While he is learning to channel his protective instincts, his intelligence and loyalty stand out, making him a truly remarkable companion for the right family. Adopters should live within an hour of St. Louis, MO, and be prepared for standard adoption steps including a home visit. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
