About Hickory

Hickory came into rescue as a starving 10-week-old pup and recently hit his 2-year mark in care. A mixed breed with Black and Tan Coonhound in the mix, he's a sturdy 60 lbs with a short bicolor coat. Hickory has bonded well with his foster family and does best with women, though he’s also fine with men he knows. He’s playful outdoors, getting along with his brother and the other foster dogs. He’s shown interest in other animals—he’s even done well with a young goat. Hickory has a couple of quirks: he will resource guard his kennel and is protective over food, stemming from being underfed before rescue. Both are manageable with clear routines. Smart and sweet, Hickory picks up on expectations quickly. He will need a 6-foot privacy fence, as he can scale and escape chainlink with ease. He is crate and house trained when kept on a schedule. Compatibility with cats is unknown. Hickory gets along with dogs and children he’s familiar with, making him a good fit for the right household. There is a discount if adopted with his brother, Wally. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
