After nine months in foster care, this formerly untouchable girl has come so far and is ready to find a patient, loving home that will celebrate her quiet achievements. Esmeralda began her time in foster care with strong feral tendencies, unable to be touched. Through consistent love and patience, she has blossomed into a companion who now spends most of her time out in the open. She currently tolerates being held and accepts gentle pets, though she is still easily frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Esmeralda is looking for a home that understands that gaining her trust will take significant time; she is not a cat who will immediately settle in, but once she feels safe with you, she generally keeps to herself without running away. She has lived successfully with many other cats without issue, though she rarely engages them, and would also likely be fine with a calm, non-bullying dog. We also think she would be okay with older children, such as teenagers, who will respect her boundaries. Her beautiful, long coat does shed quite a bit, and she loves to be brushed.
