About Mary Puppins

Mary Puppins is a young Shar Pei mix with perfectly squishy rolls and a big, lovable snout. Deaf since birth, she doesn’t miss a beat—her world is full of energy and zest. She lives for zoomies in the yard, chases after canine friends, and keeps everyone entertained with her silly antics. Mary’s expressive face and a sharp nose help her keep up, and her ability to sense vibrations means she still catches the rhythm of a household. She’s already made herself an anchor for anxious rescue dogs, helping them gain confidence by example, but she’s now searching for someone who will help her continue blossoming. Mary is sweet and eager to learn, though she’ll need an adopter who’s ready to put in the work with training and routines. She isn't yet house trained but keeps her kennel mostly clean and thrives with structure. On leash, she’s manageable, but her favorite pastime is running off her endless energy in a safe, fenced yard. Mary gets along well with dogs who can handle her boisterous play style—slow introductions are best. Though she’s only briefly met cats, she’s done all right. She can be protective of high-value food and toys, so these should be managed with attention, especially with other pets or older, respectful kids who understand her needs. At the end of every play session, she sleeps in the most ridiculous positions—on her back or curled up tight—guaranteed to make you laugh. After being found wandering with her best friend Lucy Mae (who’s since found a home), Mary is ready to settle down. If you want a loyal, joyful, slightly silly companion and can provide training and patience, she might be your match. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Mary Puppins

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Mary Puppins, as a Shar-Pei mix, tends to do best in a home where she has companionship, structure, and a yard to burn off energy. These dogs are adaptable but thrive when they have strong, consistent guidance and a comfortable indoor space to relax in.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Mary Puppins will truly appreciate a moderate to large yard where she can zoom and play safely. While Shar-Pei mixes can adapt to smaller homes if exercised well, a fenced yard is ideal for her active personality.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Mary Puppins would do best in a home with older, respectful children who understand boundaries, as she can be protective of her food and toys. Shar-Pei mixes are generally good with kids but do best when children know how to interact gently.
